English Language Requirements:

Queen's University Belfast requires international applicants to demonstrate a high level of English language proficiency to ensure academic success and full participation in university life. All applicants whose first language is not English must meet the university's English language requirements by providing evidence through recognized tests such as IELTS, TOEFL, and other accepted assessments. These requirements are essential for ensuring that students possess the necessary language skills to actively engage in lectures, seminars, written assignments, and other academic activities. Meeting these standards confirms the applicant's preparedness to succeed in an English-speaking academic environment at Queen's University Belfast. The university accepts the following English language tests:

• 1) IELTS Academic (UKVI Approved): 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each
• 2) IELTS Academic or IELTS Indicator: 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in each
• 3) TOEFL iBT : 90 Overall (L- 17 R- 18 S- 20 W- 17)
• 4) Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic: 69 overall with a minimum of 59 in each skill

Accommodation for International Students

All International Students are guaranteed a place at Elms Student Village and you’ll find it’s some of the best value student accommodation anywhere in the world, as well as located within easy walking distance of the University.

International students are guaranteed a place in university accommodation for at least their first year at Queen’s. There are limited places for international students studying on 1-semester courses, such as Erasmus and Study Abroad Programmes. Accommodation for students travelling with a partner/spouse is available, with notice. A range of accommodation is available, some exclusive to international and postgraduate students.Room types include twin rooms, single en-suite and premium double rooms.

Contracts are for 39 or 51 weeks which includes the Christmas and Easter breaks, and costs include heat, hot water, electricity and Internet, as well as a range of support services including pastoral care and social events.

There is also specific accommodation as follows: Single-sex accommodation, i.e., male- or female-only; No-alcohol accommodation; Quiet-living accommodation, for students preferring a quieter, more study-focused environment. All residences are within easy walking distance of the university and a central student area has resources including laundry.
 

Queen's University Belfast offers a range of scholarships for international students, including the GREAT Queen's University Belfast Scholarships (India), a total of 20 scholarships for well-qualified Indian students. International Office Undergraduate Scholarship All new international students beginning their first year of full-time undergraduate study in Queen's University Belfast and who meet the conditions of their academic offer will receive an International Office Undergraduate Scholarship. Year one award of £2500 (fee rate 1) or £3000 (fee rate 2) (Including advanced entry into Year 2 or Year 3) Vice-Chancellor's International Attainment Scholarship - Undergraduate Two new international students enrolling on a full-time undergraduate programme will receive full payment of tuition fees for all years of programme, up to a maximum of four years. (Including advanced entry into Year 2 or Year 3 Queen's Loyalty Scholarship.

A 20% tuition fee reduction on year 1 for Exchange and Study Abroad students returning to study on a full-time undergraduate programme at Queen's University Belfast Early Bird Reward All new International Students starting onto a full-time degree programme, who hold an unconditional offer, and who pay fees in full, will receive a 10% discount on gross fees - may be used in conjunction with other scholarships.

Taught Scholarships The International Office Postgraduate Taught scholarship is awarded to international fee rate students beginning their full time studies at Queen's University Belfast.

University International PhD Awards (Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences) Award including payment of International tuition fees and a Maintenance stipend for Non-EU international students. Applications are invited to any of the postgraduate research areas in the AHSS Faculty subject to available supervision.

Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences International PhD Award 20 accommodation awards will be available for students starting their PhD in an AHSS School.The awards will cover 1 year of accommodation in QUB halls of residence.
